I recently purchased a new Sony Vaio Laptop with Blu-Ray technology.

Windows XP, Duo Core Processor, etc. etc.

I can install any software as long as there is no 2nd disk for installation. If any software program has 2 disks, might as well say good bye.

    What happens?

"Please insert Disk 2" (remember, it doesn't matter what game, or what applicaiton it might be)

I insert disk 2, wait for about a minute, and press "Ok ".

The rest is history.... "Program is not responding "... "Send error report to Microsoft ". Ctrl+Alt+Delete does not remedy the problem...ending Task does not take it away. So what does take away the error messages?

    EJECTING THE DISK!

    Start over with Disk 1.

    Repeat the above.

    What's going on?

What happens if you remove the first CD, insert the second and immediately press OK with little or no delay between the insertion and the OK?

    ;)

The first-time around I pressed OK almost immediately after I inserted the 2nd disk, so I thought that might be the problem. No so. After trying it the second time, I waited a little bit after inserting the disk before pressing OK. Same problem.

I also recently pruchased a Dell XPS laptop. It also has Blu-Ray technology. I just experiemented installing the same game on the Dell. 2nd disk installs like a charm!

Something is seriously messed up with the Sony Vaio. No software, game, or application can be installed if it requires 2 disks. 2nd disks freeze every single time, no matter what. Call Tech Support? Maybe the drive is defective?

Since its a new machine, yes, I would either take it back and ask for an exchange or RMA it to Sony. I had one ACER out of 5 purchased for a small company that got 3 motherboards in its first four months of life. Just happened to be the one that was assigned to the owner's wife - ouch. I will say that Acer turned this around in less than a week each time and they finally got it right.

    ;)
