    Hi,

I'm new member. I've a problem with my PC. As suggested, I search first relevant posting that similar to my problem. Unfortunately, I can not find the same exact problem. Following is the PC configuration (based on PC Wizard 2006):

    Mobo: MSI 915 Neo (MS-7143)
    Chipset: Intel i915P
    Processor: Intel Pentium 4 524 3066 MHz
    RAM: 512 MB DDR2
Video Card: ATI RADEON X300 (PCI EXPRESS)
HD: 80 GB SEAGATE SATA ST380811AS
    LG DVD-R/W HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N
MONITOR: LG LCD L1717S (17 INCH)
    OS: MS WINDOWS XP SP2
    DIRECTX: 9.0C (OCT. 2006 RELEASE)
Applications: MS Office 2003, Winamp 5.32, Firefox 2, Thunderbird 1.5.8.

From my search in the net, I found that the monitor driver was in conflict with the ATI RADION X Series. So, I didn't install the monitor driver anymore.

The problem is that when I install J2SE Runtime Environmet 5.0 Update 9, previously the system'll hang when I restart the PC after installing this software. But I can still run in the Safe Mode. Unfortunately, I didn't remember the error message (it filled the whole screen while the background was in blue color) since it already happened more than one month.

Now I install the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3 and the software run smoothly. Then I install nVidia DVD Decoder to watch the DVD using Windows Media Player 10 and I can watch the DVD successfully. When i restart the PC, it hang again. This time I can not go to the Safe Mode since it also hang.

During the POST, there is no problem with the hardwares. Fyi, when I installed J2SE Runtime Environmet 5.0 Update 6, the problem occured later after several days. I need J2SE Runtime Environmet 5.0 and MS .NET Framework to run a specific website to communicate with my daughter in the Netherlands (using the chatting facility of the website).

I'm tired and headache to face this problem. I hope someone here can help me solving the problem. I'll appreciate any direction to fix it.

    Thank you.

    Happy New Year 2007.

    Cheers,

    June

Java RE does not run at startup.
    Nor does the .NET framework.

So both of these can be ruled out as causing startup issues.

    Start, Run, and type: eventvwr.msc

Look through the event logs for entries relating to the time at which you received the blue screen with the error message. Carefully write down the full error message and error number and report back to the Forum.

    Unquote.

Please therefore adv what's the real problem and how to fix it. Meanwhile, based on above report, I checked the hard disk and found more than 600 bad sectors at the position of 531 MB! Wow! How about the VGA card?

    Thanks a lot.

    Cheers,

    June

    PS:

Now I can go to the Windows normally, but the process takes too long time. And sorry for late response. I've a connection problem since 26 Dec. 06.

    You need to run chkdsk:

    Start, Run, CMD

    chkdsk c: /f /r

It will tell you that this can only be done during a reboot. Answer Yes. Reboot.

This may take several hours to finish.

The rest of your log are warnings, and for the moment lets deal with the critical disk errors that are causing your machine its problems.

    Hi, Bill Castner.

Thanks for your second guidance. I follow it. Strangely, chkdsk run fast (only a few minutes) since there is no bad sectors found. I really confuse! How come two actions show different result? One said there are many bad blocks, while the other said nothing about bad sectors. Maybe the data cable not connected to the hard disk or mobo firmly alias it's connected loosely so that sometimes it work while in the other time it make trouble? So, what should I do next to solve my problem?

    Thanks a lot.

    Cheers,

    June

Chkdsk should have spent a little more time.

Download from the drive manufacturer its setup/diagnostic disk. You can use Device Manger to show the manufacturer of the drive.

Most downloads of this type will want to create a bootable floppy disk. Let it do so. Then use the floppy to boot from. This may require that you change the setting in your BIOS for the Boot Order, so that the floppy drive is listed first.

Do any NON-DESTRUCTIVE test offered. A destructive test would be clearly shown by the utility.

Now my second area of concern. Your Event logs showed this entry:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    Aavmker4
    AFD
    aswTdi
    Fips
    intelppm
    IPSec
    MRxSmb
    NetBIOS
    NetBT
    RasAcd
    Rdbss
    Tcpip

You cannot have a situation in which the Tcpip service does not run if you want to access the Internet.

So, my second favor: post back a HijackThis log:

    Hi, Bill Castner.

Sorry for the very, very late response. I've found the source of the problem, i.e. defectime RAM and consequently the broken hard disk (nine blocks of bad sectors). After replacing the RAM and hard disk, also update the BIOS. Now the problem has been solved.

Thank you very much for your kind attention and spending your precious time for helping me solve the problem. I really appreciate it.

    Cheers,

    June
