I have searched through everything on I can find on this forum and nothing helps. I am trying to change my desktop to anything except the ugly blue that is on it. It won't let me change anything. It won't even let me click on anything listed for the themes. Can someone please help me????

    Start, Run, services.msc

Scroll down and double click the Themes service.

    Is it started and running?

If not, if you Start the service does it initialize without error?

If it was stopped and is now running after your Start command, set the Startup despositon to Automatic before exiting.

Do you have to be logged in as administrator?

Do you mean everything is grayed out?

Go here and download and run the file on line 187, left side. A reboot may be necessary, I'm not sure.

    Restore Themes Functionality

You tried it and could not start the Themes Service?
You checked, and Themes was running?

If you found Themes running, and cannot change your display options, are you in a Domain setting? Because Group Policy set by your IT folks may keep you from making changes.

If you are not in a Domain setting, change a Group Policy Object: http://www.theeldergeek.com/desktop_tab_missing_from_display.htm
