I wonder if anyone has run and uninstalled Download Accelerator Plus with NS 6.2.3? I've had lots of trouble.

    Hi davidgibbons!

Take a look (look only) in your Registry for this key and values:

    Windows Key + R
    Type regedit
    Navigate to AutomationProtocols
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Netscape\Netscape Navigator\AutomationProtocols]
    http=
    ftp=

Let me know what is listed after http=
    and after ftp=

    Thanks!

    Ramona :D

    Hi David,

I have Mozilla, not Netscape6 installed, but here are my 2 cents :)

If there is a plugin associated with DAP it still may be on your system, even though you uninstalled the program. Check in Help, about:plugins and see if you find a DAP plugin listed. If so, make a note of the folder path, then go there in Windows Explorer with Netscape closed and delete or rename the plugin file.

The problem may also be that DAP is still configured as a helper appliication.
Netscape6 may be the same or similar to Mozilla:
Go to Edit/Preferences, Expand Navigator. Select Helper Applications. You will have to look through the list of filetypes on the Navigator Helper Applications listing to find and remove the ones associated with DAP.

If Netscape6 is still looking for the DAP progam, you could try resetting your file opening preferences:
In the Helper Applications window, under "Opening Files ", click the Reset button.

How to uninstall DAP from NS6 properly

    :)
Thanks Alice. Yes, your fix DOES work with NS6 (and NS7). With NS open, help/about plugins listed about eight components of DAP that were still active. Making a note of the path I was able to delete the offending dll -- something the 'uninstall' program supplied with the evaluation version failed to do. My downloads are back to normal now. Some evaulation!
