I am very new to owning a cpmputer and am pretty clueless about setting up things.

I didnt want to post a question here, I just browsed other simular questions and that didt help much.

PROBLEM: I have a desktop computer and I have comcast cable for my internet which is set up through a motorola cable modem.

I recently got the Nintendo WII. I bought the WI-FI USB connector. And when installing the disc it almost finishes and then tells me "INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING ERROR. with the #5 in it. And I have the connector connected to the usb through my computer And I just cant get this thing going.

    Any help, please!!!!!!!!

Is the Motorola cable modem a wireless router?

For your setting you are missing some hardware. I do not think a software use, such as Internet Connection Sharing is likely to help in this case.

You need a wireless router to sit behind the cable modem.

Thanks for posting that...I looked at the forum...and according to this page, the nintendo wifi usb connecter ACTS as a wireless router. Only its for Nintendo and not for other wireless use such as using a laptop.

So how do I get pass the internet sharing connection error.

I have also tryed to enable Internet sharing by going to control panel, and then by clicking network connections, then by just clicking my local area connection and then clicking on CHANGE SETTINGS OF THIS NETWORK. I then click on the advanced TAB, and click to allow my internet connection to be shared and it gives me an error.

You need to add a wireless router.

Connect the cable modem to the router.
Connect your PC to the router.

Configure the router as its instruction manual suggests.

Then follow my earlier link to get the USB adapter working for your Wii.

You must add an additional piece of hardware to make this whole thing work. A broadband wireless router is very inexpensive.
