I assembled my system recently with an ASUS P5B deluxe Motherboard, Intel E6600, and an ATI X1900 All-in-Wonder Graphics card. I tried installing the Software for the card, the Multimedia center 9.16 (from the Website, because the CD version 9.15 caused the same crash) and this resulted in a 'Serious System Recovery' by WinXP pro. This produces a reboot of the system REPEATEDLY and the multimedia center is NOT uninstallable from the Control Panel. The only way to recover my system is in SAFE MODE then using SYSTEM RESTORE. (What a shocker; I never thought it would be THAT bad!)
Microsoft directed me to a web page with this:
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078). I have reported this to ATI and Microsoft with no satisfactory solution or response. And forget about getting any support from ASUS; no response at all. I tried their update for the motherboard with no result.
So now with Multimedia Center (part 4 of 4 uninstalled) I can't use the TV tuner but the capture card still works if I use it with Microsoft's Movie Maker if I need to for video capture as such...
The card itself, the ATI X1900 works fine with nice fast graphics but forget about the All-In-Wonder feature. Too Bad. :(
ANY Comments or Solutions from anyone out there? Thanks.

Are you trying to use that with Media Player 11?

    ;)

    Media Playr 11

Media Player 11 is installed but I don't see the connection with the ATI mutimedia center 9.16; it has its own file player. Should I uninstall media player 11?

Let me put it this way, Media Player 11 broke my ATI All in Wonder software but I am running 8.5. Fotunately, I'm one of these nuts that does daily backups and regular images so it only took me about a half hour to get back to a full working system on that particular PC. That box is a 940 FX53 with AIW 9800Pro (AGP variety).

My suggestion is that you google this to determine if there is something to this - all I can say at this point in time is based upon a single experience, there may be a reason to be cautious but its hardly something that I'd be willing to call a problem. It could be a problem but I don't yet know.

    ;)

I've got no problems without the ATI multimedia software installed (part 4 of 4 MMC9.16 download). I'll leave it at that for now. I just don't want to start getting problems down the line when I've had this system up and runing for a few years...
