I am running WXP-Pro on both my desktop and laptop. My custom icons have been replaced by the Windows default icons on both computers. When this happened on my desktop, I had no clue. However, my laptop had been offline for awhile and when I started it up with a WiFi connection, a Foxfire update was automatically invoked. After that, my custom icons on the laptop were also replaced by the Windows default icons. I can now go through the motions on both comuters to change the icons, however when I am done, nothing happens. How do I fix this?

    One good thing to try:

Right click a blank area of the desktop, Properties, and click the Appearance tab.
    Click the Advanced button.

Use the scrolling selector to choose Icon instead of Desktop.
Set the icon size to 31, and click OK.
Set the icon size back to 32 and click OK.

    This rebuilds the icon cache.

    Well Done!

I followed your lead, however, my icons were set at 60. I set them to 31 and then played around with sizes and found that the largest size that works is 40.
    thanks!

See if 48 will work, as an icon should support that under XP.
