    Hi All,

On another board I have seen one statement that a full Vista installation weighs in at 15 GB+, and another saying 8 GB+!! On my machine RC1 takes 6.5 GB only.
That is still plenty but I am sure that some of you MVP's can give us a better idea of the disk space required.

It'll depend on which Edition (Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Business) is installed. My Ultimate takes up 7.6 GB for the \Windows directory (clean install).

The 15GB is most likely a confusion that relates to the fact that you'll need 15 GB free space to install. The new image based format means that setup will copy the image to your hard drive, expands it, and then does the install.

FWIW, I'm running Ultimate x64, and with Office 2007, Vis Studio 2005 and Photoshop CS2 plus a few other smaller apps installed it still comes in at less than 15GB (13.5 to be precise).

I am not sure anybody call help you with RC1.

VISTA RTM has the bugcheck code removed, so is much smaller. I think Arie answered the install vs. final needs for RTM above.
