Can't connect to internet and windows installer pop up

I have 2 problems...don't know if they're related or not. My HP laptop is unable to connect to the internet. I have a home network, and 2 other computers have no problem getting on. It just started happening...out of the blue.

2nd issue...the Windows Installer popup window pops up...and pops up...and pops up, etc. It is "preparing to install." I have no idea what it's preparing to install, but it's preparing, regardless. This cycle makes it nearly impossible to perform any task, including reinstalling drivers.

Any thoughts out there?

I've changed your thread title. Please follow the Posting rule #3 on using meaningfull subjects.

These two problems my be related, so not going to split your thread.

First thing you can try is using System Restore to restore to just prior to this problem.
