Does anyone know of a way to disable that obnoxious warning when you change a filename extension?

"If you change a filename extension, the file may become unusable.
Are you sure you want to change it? "

Hardly obnoxious - just a friendly warning from Windows :) I doubt you can disable it as it is most likely hard coded into Windows.

Thanks, PeteC. It is a friendly warning, but it gets obnoxious about the 1000th time you've seen it. I get the idea, Microsoft, leave me alone.

I quite often change the exe extension to send stuff by email. I realize that I could zip it, but it's easier just to change the extension.

I didn't think there would be a way to disable it. I was hoping against hope.

    edjer,

There is a little freebie that does exactly what you want. It's called PTFB and once you show it what you want it to do with any particular dialog box, it'll do it for you automatically. The delay time default is 5 seconds until execution but it's selectable down to immediately.

I've used it in the past and can assure you that it does the job. It was especially useful when runing unattended batch files and some command needed a button pushed.

Thanks for posting back -I'm glad it helped you Ed. I've used it for years but I still remember the first time. Once I realized how easy it was and how hard I was trying to make it, things went real smoothly. Then when I saw how well it worked, I actually had to chuckle out loud.

    All the best.
