I recently installed XP Pro on my computer, I recently had XP Home from Compaq.

When I click the Power button above nothing happens, but my screen still shuts off within the time limit like before when I had XP Home

I also noticed there is no more Power Options in the Control Panel like how it was previously in XP Home

Lastly, when I plug in Sony DSC I get this error, before it use to be just Plug and Play and even says so on the Sony website, I tried it on another computer and it works just fine, and it use to work on my computer before too. I use the CD that came with it and it still gets the same error along w/ the driver that's on the Sony website.

    Ok ....

First go into the BIOS and check that APM is enabled. Itit is not enabled then enable it and try again.

If it was enabled go Start > Run > type in powercfg.cpl > Enter

Does this bring up Power Options? If it does not then powercfg.cpl is not on your system and I would suggest a Repair of XP.
