So against my better judgement I tried twice to install IE7 and after an apparant successful download and installation and reboot IE7 hangs when I try to start it. While I use Firefox mainly I have to use IE7 to access a site for business. What can I do?

After my initial post (above) I read Catpurrson's similar problems and found I could start IE7 via Start>Acc>SysTools>IE (no addons) but I can't access my business site because, I think, the ActiveX is disabled. So does this mean I should re-install IE7 in the laborious manner described in : http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks ...18/182724.aspx See Before installing IE7 ? Doing so apparantly didn't help Catpurrson and I noticed she hasn't checked back in a week; she must have snapped...

If I uninstall IE7 from whence will IE6 magically reappear? When I go to Add/Remove programs only IE7 is listed.

A few folk are having trouble with IE 7 which is surprising considering the amount of public beta testing, but .....

If you uninstall IE 7 through Add/Remove IE 6 will reappear as if by magic :D - it remains on your drive. Been there, done that several times during beta testing.

You could try disabling the add-ons a few at a time to try to find the one that's giving you problems. Right click on the IE icon on the desktop, choose properties and click the programs tab. Then click the manage add-ons button. Disable a few, and start IE. If the problems persist diable a few more and try again. Process of elimination.

If you don't have IE showing on your desktop, control panel>internet options will get you there too.

Well, I un-installed IE7 and, voila, IE6 reappeared. I'll stick with it for a few months; if it ain't completely broken I ain't fixin' it. Thanks for the help :)

Give us the link to the site you are having trouble with and see if we can get to it with our IE7.

The main problem is that IE7 won't load for me, it starts and then hangs. I can start it without add-ons but I guess the ActiveX doesn't load and so I can't access my site. You can't either as it requires a 'key'. I can get onto the site with the un-add-on IE7 but I can't get past the Rottweiler at the gate because the ActiveX isn't activated. I'm just gonna stick with IE6; I don't need more complications in my life. Thanks for the help :)
