Have finally FOUND the old message folders on my old HD (currently hooked up via usb to new computer) and located the new Netscape mailbox locations. I copied over the specific folder containing the old messages, but the transferred folder is not picked up by Netscape Mail. I know in my old computer, I had several mailboxes from a few different upgrades.
Apparently, Romana, you wrote a paper on how to do this, but I can't locate the paper on this website yet. Just signed on.
    under WinXP...
under C:\ blah blah to Profiles\carol.wright\*.slt\Mail
I have Local Folders and Mail.comcast.net (the working mail folder)
I copied over the most recent large folder from previous machine under Mail as well. It's titled mail.comcast-3.net. After rereading that other person's post, I opened properties for this -3 folder and unchecked the Read Only box. It still doesn't show. Should I have unchecked the box BEFORE copying it? Where is location of this nifty paper you wrote?
Thanks. Of course, right now there is ONE old document I desperately need. Sigh.

    Found an easy solution elsewhere

    Thanks...
before this,I had found Ramona's forum post to someone with complete instructions, which didn't work really, but had hints like "uncheck Read Only" in the files's preferences, and don't bring over the index files (ending in .msf or similar). I also found another netscape website with a tip. Between the two, came up with a workable solution.

From the old HD's message folder, I renamed the mailboxes I wanted to bring over. Rather than Drafts, renamed DraftsOld. Now that it was renamed, with Netscape closed, in Windows Explorer simply dragged the file into the current mailbox. When I opened Netscape again, there was the DraftsOld mailbox. The messages showed up, and I had my document.
Will do the larger old MB files when I have time to go though them to reduce space. At least I know how to do it. Related, in old mailbox there are five very huge files named nstmp-1 through -5 File
Dates are from last fall before my computer crash...they are paired...two files for 10-18, two files for 10-27-29. In all, my old messages box was 2.5 GIGS! What are these huge files based on the file names?
