Whenever I add new links by draggin them off the url bar to one of my IE6 Favorite folders it always places the new links down at the bottom and I have to drag each one up to the correct alphabetical position.

I've looked for an Alpha option but can't seem to find it under the Add/Organize function. Is there an easier way to do this?

    Hi, robls99. :)

I think you are more likely to get a quicker/more helpful response in the Internet Explorer / Outlook Express forum. I rarely use IE and I currently have IE version 7.0 installed so I cannot offer helpful suggestions regarding version 6 any more (unless I happen to recall a fix).

I expect a moderator/administrator will move this thread to the IE/OE forum shortly.

    Good luck!

robls99: Right click on the list of favourites then click on "Sort by name ". That will arrange the favourites in alpha order by the first word in each. Remember it will put numbers before names.:)

If I remember correctly this must be done in the Favourites drop down menu in the menu bar in IE 6 and not from the Favourites pane. You will need to sort each folder view independently.

In IE 7 it can be done from the Favourites pane too.

Thanks guys, but right clicking on the Folder, Folder file, blank space space or in the Organize drop down in similar places shows lots of options but none that say any kind of Sort. I guess I'll have to stick to dragging them one by one.

robls99, you need to work from the menu bar "Favorites" and just the drop down lists of your favorites, not the "organize... ".

    Another screenshot:

    PeteC,

I'm not usually this dense in finding stuff but am wondering what version you are on. I'm using IE6 Outlook Express and can't find any menu like yours in either the File, Edit or Favorites (or Add, Organize). Also the Help screen for Favorites mentions no such option.

The closest is if I right click on an entry in the Organize Favorites there are 14 choices but no Sort. The last 5 are:

    Cut
    Copy
    Delete
    Rename
    Properties

Well, I'm on IE 7, but JohnB is on IE 6 and has the option to sort by name and I know it was in IE6 - it wasn't that long ago :)

I give up. My computer is only about 6mos old and has an OEM version of IE6. When I right click on a name it has 10 choices in the drop down all of which appear on John's thumbnail but the 5 that are missing incl Sort.

    Thanks anyhoo.

    FWIW:

The first link did not work because it recreated itself.

The 2nd, incl. setting deny Full Access ... worked beauuuuuuuuutifully!

    Thanks again.
