    Hello,
I have the following URL set as my homepage: http://news.windowsbbs.com/ in Internet Explorer 6. When I open up my IE browser, it starts to load up this page, but before placing any objects on the screen, I get automatically redirected to: http://news.windowsbbs.com/profile.php which displays the following error message:
    Not Found
The requested URL /profile.php was not found on this server.

In order to get to the news page, I have to delete the "/profile.php" from the URL in the address bar then I can get to the page I wanted in the first place. I've deleted my cookies and temp 'net files and this solved the issue until the next time I had to log into the site. Now it's redirecting me to that non-existant profiles.php.

How do I stop this from happening? Why does it redirect me when I start IE, but not after I delete the /profile.php on the end?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi,

I have NO idea why that would happen. Please double check to make sure the home-page is set as http://news.windowsbbs.com

    Delete your TIF files.

If it still happens, there's a good chance your ISP uses a cache, and it has cached the 'wrong' page.

Mind you, while a lot of ISP's do have a cache for Web pages, they will most likely not openly admit that they do...

When I click on the link, it takes me to news.windowsbbs.com without any problems. However, if I leave the current window anywhere in WindowsBBS, and open up a new IE window, it recreates the forwarding to /profile.php issue.

    Arie,
What directory should I be deleting my .tif's from? My temporary internet files?

Yes, sorry, TIF stands for Temporary Internet Files.

I'm using IE6 on this machine and set my home page to the same news page. It worked well...

I've cleared the TIF (not .tifs :) and it's working so far. I had tried this once before and it temporarily solved the issue. I suppose it's really no big deal, just more of an annoyance. If it comes up again, I'll just empty my TIF folder again and keep it going.

    Thanks for you help gentlemen
