    Running WinXP Pro.
In my list of Services is DMSVC which is Microsoft Disk Monitor Service (not Disk Manager). DMSVC is set as Manual and usually not Started.
I have no idea what it does. Googling does not provide any answers I can understand, except for this
    http://www.popupsentry.com/D/DMSVCAPP.EXE-3992.html
which does not say a lot, other than it might be something to do with the Windows Feedback Panel, which I do run. But I have no DMSVCAPP.exe file on my PC.
The only reason I was alerted to this Service was that when I run the ListOrphanServices.vbs from Ramesh
    http://windowsxp.mvps.org/imagepath.htm
DMSVC shows up as 'inst.PathName' is null or not an object

Ramesh says, "Based on the results (of "OrphServices.txt "), you decide whether to remove the Service (if third-party), or to type the correct ImagePath, in case of a valid Windows service. "
I am afraid I cannot decide, since all that "OrphServices.txt" tells me is

    "Services with missing ImagePath value
    --------------------------------------

    Service : DMSVC
    Display : DMSVC
    Image Path : "

Can anyone tell me what I should do about DMSVC or how to correct the Image Path?

Does it say that specifically in the description of the service?

If not, this is a long shot after going google on DMSVC and then ActiveSync DMSVC and I have to ask if you have ActiveSync installed? DMSVC could mean Device Management Service. If so, you should find dmsvc.dll on your system.

    A few more google searches:

    - for "Disk Management Service" indicate that it may be Related to Dell Open Management system so, if you are running a Dell?

    - for "Disk Monitor Service" indicate that it may be the Hanmon Trojan.

Just say the word and I'll move this thread to Removing Spyware & Viruses.

When I left click on or right click|Properties on DMSVC in the Services window, it definitely says "Microsoft Disk Monitor Service ". Although I do have a Dell, DMSVC is not named "Disk Management ". DMSVC has no Dependencies.
I am not aware that I have a program called activesync installed (nothing in Program Files), nor do I use Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.1.
I searched for diskmon32 and could not find any such file or diskmon32.*.
I looked in the Registry. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\DMSVC) There is no Image Path value for DMSVC, whereas most other Services have such a value.
I regularly run antivirus and adware scans and just ran a-squared's online trojan scan. Other than a tracking cookie from my ISP, nothing found.
Since my PC is running OK, may I should just ignore this. If Windows Feedback Panel is inactivated for lack of an image path, I guess it is no great loss of mine.

I seem to be clean of those .dll files and references to dmon and DiskMon32.
