The current network security issues being faced by the populace are computer hacking, malicious use of confidential data(eavesdropping by man in the middle attack) and physical damage to computer hardware with the intention of getting the hard-drives or other expensive perpherals.
I would love to know people 's view about the security problems highlighted, experiences, responses and interventions. Thanks

Hi babajide and welcome to the forum.

Your posting has the ring of a school/college assignment!

My experience is that most current problems are related to trojans either being used to harvest credit card and bank, or relay spam. Bogus e-mails trying to trick people into spending or give away money are plentiful too. Both of which are the result of automated scatter gun type of activity.

Targeted attacks at specific personal or company information or resources are rare. With the price of hardware dropping rapidly - even hardware thief is declining I think.

Within a business, most misuse is not of the typical hacking type. Its mostly people trying to cover up the fact that they haven't done a job they were supposed to, or massaging figures so they look better. So more business process issues than classical computer hacking.
