My computer keeps on restarting after it gets to the desktop I get the blue screen error for R8139n51.sys. My computer works on Diagnostic mode and Safe Mode with Networking. This all happened when i clicked a file keygen.exe which I should have never done. I've done a scan on Ad-Aware, Registry Mechanic, Spy-bot, Norton and I get numerous spywares, trojans, etc.

The file I started getting this error with can be found here:
    http://www.techsupportforum.com/att...65720191-computer-keeps-restarting-keygen.rar
Norton detected it as this, but it doesn't really help.
    http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2006-120715-4856-99&tabid=1

If I delete the file R8139n51.sys my computer will then work, but then my Ethernet Card no longer works. I downloaded a newer driver from the Realtek site and it works but then gets a Blue Screen error with the new driver.

Hello and welcome to WindowsBBS Forums.

I would ask if that HJT log you presented was one made while in safe mode? If so, please create a new one in 'normal mode'. Also, please be sure you have no items in the HijackThis! 'ignore' list, as we need to see a complete list of everything that's running on your system, no matter how inconsequential you think it is.

:!: First thing we need to do is stop Active Common Service service:
Go to: Start > Run > type " services.msc ", then click OK

When the Services window appears scroll down to the Active Common Service service.

Click it to highlight it, then <right-click> and select: Properties
Select and set "Service Status" option to "Stop"
Select: "Startup type" and set it to "Disabled ", click Apply, then OK.

Perform the same steps as above, with the following service:
    IWin service

    Once both have been disabled:

Download the Killbox from here and save it to the desktop.
    • Double-click the KillBox icon on your desktop to open it
    • Select "Delete on Reboot "
    • Then select "All files ".
Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\actsrv.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\iwinapp.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\rpcc.dll

    Return to Killbox
    • Go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard ".
    • Click the red-and-white [Delete File] button.
    • Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the 'Pending Operations' prompt.

    Do not reboot yet.

    Download combofix.exe
    • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Open Hijackthis, select the [Do a system scan only] button and look over the following entries I have listed, check the boxes [] next to them and press the [Fix Checked] button. When you are doing this, make sure you have No IE windows, nor any other browsers open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks for the help, but I couldn't get the first steps to work b/c I couldn't wouldn't work on Safe Mode or Diagnostic and for Normal startup it would freeze unless I deleted the file i mentioned before. I figured that going through all this mess that it would be easier just to reboot Windows XP. I know this is a drastic measure, but everytime I did a Normal startup I would get countless amounts of spyware, trojans, and so on. Some of them were Keyloggers and so on and I do a lot of online shopping so I figured eh this is my first time I'm ever going to reboot the computer for 6 years, I took pretty good care of it, I have all my stuff backed up to a secondary hard drive why not just start fresh? So I did. I'll make sure not to bug u guys again! I can't believe this happened in the first place. Ugh.. Thanks for the help tho.

    [Free/Paid] WinPatrol Beta Testing

I assume by 'reboot' you mean to re-install the Windows operatiing system? If so you can find a nice tutorial right here

    Hope that helps
