Yesterday my my puter couldn't find my digital camera when I pluged it in. I thought it was the cable at first but ruled that out. I reinstalled the drivers etc. Still nothing. So I took a look in the Device Manager and there is nothing there. It's an empty window. I checked the Event Viewer/System Log and there are the same 2 errors showing up the first is Service Control Manager/Event 7023 and the second is NWCWorkstation/Event 9001 However I don't think they are related because as I look back the same errors have been happening since Feb! The camera worked up to just about a week ago. The only thing that I have done since the last time the camera (and I am assuming the Device Manager) worked is install drivers for another camera that my friend had with him. Which BTW worked fine. I uninstalled them when I reinstalled the drivers for my camera just before discovering the Device Manager problem. I am running Win2000 pro with all the latest updates from the Microsoft Windows Update web site. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Hockalugie and welcome to the Board,

Searching for this problem for Wk2, found this: http://www.mcse.ms/message817207.html

Re-registering the devmgr.dll and checking the security permissions on the HKLM\SYSTEM\CCS\Enum key.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks Steve I have already tried that. The Plug n Play is set to automatic.
I have received suggestions from other sources that I need to register the device manager again but I dont know how to do it. Maybe someone has instructions that I can understand on how its done. Thanks again

I had a problem like yours but I waited for about 5 minutes and the window was finally populated. I don't know how it was fixed. I think I had installed something it didn't like. It works OK now.

I wish I was as lucky. I too believe the problem was caused by installing the usb driver for my friends camera. I d/l'd the driver from the sony (his camera was a sony) website then I removed them after we were done pulling the pic's off his camera. Thats the only thing that has changed and the next day is when I noticed the problem. I tried to get some pics off my (cannon) camera and I got the message that there was no camera connected. One thing led to another and as I first posted I found an empty Device Manager window. And thats where I'm still at :(

Great news. One thing about coming to the BBS for help even if you don't get it - it causes you to think a little deeper and get some ideas even if they aren't much help.
