Im new to outlook express and have no idea if this is possible.
I use outlook at work and am fed up with walking in on Monday to 100 new e-mails and then being expected to know the answers to them all within the first 10 mins, is there any way I can link my work e-mail with my home one so I can view them at home to give me a head start?

Everything and anything is possible. What does your company and their IT Dept. think about this? That is the first place to go to ask this question. One more thing, how much are you going to get paid for working at home like this. This could also become a liability/responsibility also.

You can set your work email account up on your home machine provided you know all the correct information.

One exception is that when prompted for the SMTP info you need to enter your home ISP info.

    Thanks

Thanks I think ill talk to our it dept but they are less than helpfull as if it doesnt invlove calling in an engineer from London they dont seem interested,
and as for working from home judging by the dozens of calls i get per day out of office hours it looks like i already do that, would have just been easier to have stuff dealt with rather than walking in and finding my workload has just been doubled due to an e-mail happy work society.

I don't think you can avoid talking to your Company's IT department. The main problem is the connection to the mailserver.

If the company is at all sensible, they will be using a private IP address space inside your network. So your IP addresses will start with 10., 192.168, or 172. Likewise the IP address of the mailserver that you use inside the company network is also likely to start with one of these numbers.

Private IP addresses are not valid on the internet, so if your company has set up their mailservers to allow access from the internet, they will have to assign additional internet IP for the mailserver. This will have no relation to the internal one. So knowing the IP address you use inside your network is unlikely to help you connect to the mailserver from the internet.

So to start with you will need to talk to your Company's IT department to get the external IP address of the mailservers.

Then they might not have opened port 110 (for POP3 - the main protocol used by Outlook Express to grab e-mails from a mailserver) on the firewall. So you need to talk to them about how you connect to the mailserver.

You need to talk to them!

Forward your mail to your home address

Use your "Out of office assistant ", under menu Tools
Add a rule, the rule can be set up so it forwards all your mail to another e-mail adress (home adress, hotmail, etc...)
