    Hello all,

This could be today's dumbest question (sorry). I have used a CD-RW disc to add and delete files (data) without problems but when I copy audio files to a CD-RW using Windows Media Player I have a problem. Once I have copied an album to CD-RW and then returned later to that same CD-RW to add tracks from another CD, Media Player won't play ball - it tells me I must have a blank CD-R or CD-RW to copy to. I assumed that you could add or delete any files from a CD-RW (but not CD-R). Is it me, or Media Player?

    Any help gratefully accepted.

    DoPe,

First off... the only 'dumb' questions are the ones that don't get asked. :D

Now, in order to add more files to a CD-RW you need to leave the 'session' open. This would be an option somewhere in your burning software. Also when you delete a file from a CD-RW you won't recover the used space unless you format the CD again, then you remove everything.

My suggestion would be to use CD-Rs for music files. They are relatively inexpensive (sometimes *free* if you find the right rebate) and you don't have to mess with formatting. I believe using CD-Rs you're less likely to get burn errors (just my opinion). HTH
