I have AVG virus software and it popped up that I have a trojanhorseflooder.axe, and when I clicked to fix it, it popped up I needed to restart my computer, so I did. But it never restarted and just keeps trying to over and over. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hello and welcome to WindowsBBS Forums.

Ok, can you give me some clarity on what you're meaning?

Do you mean the computer just keeps trying to reboot, but cannot or do you mean the AVG message keeps occurring?

If it cannot reboot, what portion of restarting does it get to, the Windows logon screen, or just it make sounds like the hard drive is starting or what?

Also let us know what operating system you're using as well, thanks

Yes, it just makes sounds like it is trying to reboot....And it doesn't make it to the log in screen... I have been able to start up in safe mode. Also, i had this problem after I ran AVG yesterday, I ran it again this morning and it did the same thing.. detected the viruses, then asked if i wanted to fix them, I clicked yes, and it prompted me to restart, so I did, but it won't.

Also, the AVG says these viruses are unable to be fixed.

Don't allow AVG to fix those entries.

Whisky we should in all probability post that info about AVG.

I can't investigate much right now, but I have seen it on the DSLR boards too.

Well the link that I was referencing has been taken down.

After looking closer I am unsure what, if any issue there is. There was a posted fix, but it's on a website that I'm not totally trusting.

They seemed to be begging for donations as much as providing a fix, which makes me skeptical.

drba if you can get to safe mode, then go into the AVG vault and restore what has been removed\quarantined.

I'll need to get online again in a short while to see if any others have this issue, so far I have only seen you and one other user with it.

Ok looks like we have some thing to fix and remove.

Below you will find my results and recommendations from your HijackThis! log file analysis. Please read ALL instructions carefully BEFORE proceeding.

I would uninstall any Enigma Group Software. they are not a very trustful company, IMHO. They don't use very ethical sales tactics and have been involved in a number of questionable online practices. There are plenty of other, more reputable applications, regardless of it being anti-spyware, firewall what have you.

Please follow these instructions, exactly, for proper HJT installation. Please place HJT into ITS OWN PERMANANT FOLDER. It must not be installed on the desktop.

You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.Move HijackThis.exe into this folder (C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe). When you run HijackThis.exe from C:\HJT folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary which is easily accessible.

Access your Add or Remove Programs Control Panel by hittting your [Start ]button, select Control Panel and click on 'Add or Remove Programs'. Then find the following programs and click the [Change|Remove ]button for each, if they are listed
    Enigma Software
    Viewpoint
<<<--Stealth DL, bundled with AIM. Used for online game playing, will re-install with AIM upgrade. Will not cause any malfunctions with AIM if removed.

Open Hijackthis, select the 'Do a system scan only' button and look over the following entries I have listed, check the boxes [] next to them and press the [Fix Checked] button. When you are doing this, make sure you have No IE windows, nor any other browsers open, including this one. Reboot if I have specified below, and post a fresh HijackThis log.

Reboot, into safe mode, this way:
    Turn on the computer
Immediately begin tapping the <F8> key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press the <Enter> key.

Also, enable the 'Show Hidden Folders' option, like this:
    Click Start.
    Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm.
    Click OK.

Open 'My Computer' and select the 'Search' feature. Then click the 'All files and folders' button. Click the 'More advanced search options' button and be sure the 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders' and 'Search subfolders' boxes are check marked then search for and delete, if found, (some may not be present after previous steps) the following files/folders:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\ldvfb.dll <<<--this file
    C:\Program Files\Viewpoint<<<<---this folder

To exit Safe Mode, click the Start button, click Turn Off Computer, click Restart.

Post a new HJT log back into this thread please.
