Cannot reinstall Outlook Express

    I've been having problems with OE not working and have been able to temporarily get OE to work by Reinstalling it, but after I turn my computer of it stops working - I have to constantly Reinstall.

    However, I just installed IE 7 and now I can't Reinstall OE.

    HELP!!!

    Reregister OE and it's associated library files as outlined in the Outlook Express Repair kit and see if that fixes the problem. Pay particular attention to the syntax of the commands - there are spaces which are essential to run the command.

    Sorry, but OE still doesn't open. :mad:

    I tried changing the Install value in the registry to "0 ", but when I try reinstalling it I get "Setup was unable to download the required components ".

    The good news is that with IE 7 I was able to set-up a tab to open my Hotmail email when I start IE. So, I get both my "Home" page and my email in one shot. :cool:

    However, I need to access my OE Address Book so I can Import my Contacts into my Hotmail Address Book. :confused:

    Two things you could try ....

    Run System File Checker which may - or more likely will not resolve the OE problem, but will do no harm.

    Uninstall IE 7 through Add/Remove Programs to get back to IE 6 - work your magic on OE to get that started and export your Address Book. I have no idea if Hotmail will import an OE Address Book.

    Then reinstall IE 7 following the guidlines here to the letter ...

    A final alternative - look at this Google for methods of extracting addresses from your OE Address Book - a .wab file ....

    Have you tried accessing the Address Book from All Programs > Accessories > Address Book?

    When logged in to your Hotmail Account, go to Contacts and in the left hand pane there are tools to import contacts from Outlook or Outlook Express.
