    When I open the computer the monitor is like pixels kinda and when I leave the mouse in one place after 1 min if I move it it leaves a trail I can still see it there. That also happens with other stuff like a page when I minimize it it leaves it in the backround for a while. I thought it was a problem with my computer, so I went to fix it and it worked with the other monitor so it's probably my monitor's fault? What's the problem? I hope for a response soon I need that computer for alot of stuff and if my parents see it they won't let me use it for school or other reasons.:(

    As the display using another monitor is OK it is very likely that the monitor is failing.

    However it is just possible that your graphics card driver is corrupt and I suggest you reinstall the drivers.

    How can I re-install the drivers? And if the monitor is failing what can I do? Do I have to buy a new one?

    Do you have an installation CD for your graphics card - do you know which graphics card you have fitted?

    Download and run Everest which will tell you which graphics card is installed. Either go to the manufacturer's website and download the driver or post the details of your card here (and your OS - XP, 98 ...) and I will search for you (tomorrow - it is close on midnight here).
    That is the most likely scenario - you could try getting it tested at the local computer store or try it on another computer and see if the display is the same.

    Three things interact to create your issue. If you could supply to the Forum the following information, and after receiving a response things do not improve, I suspect you will need a new Monitor. But lets make sure everything is right:

    . Mouse drivers. Please update them. If you are unsure as to how, please report back to the Forum your Mouse make and model;

    . Windows makes some guesses if there is not a specific Monitor .inf file it can use. Please report back to the Forum the Monitor manufacturer and Model number so we can make sure you have the right Monitor profile installed;

    . Finally, if an update for your video adapter is available, lets do the update. Again, make and model, as specific as you can be.

    The end result is either an affirmative yes that your Monitor needs to be replace, or an affirmative yes that it works fine now.

    Mouse = Hp (Maker) M/N - M042K0A

    Monitor = ViewSonic(Maker) M/N - VG700

    Im not quite sure how to get the maker and the Model of the video adapter.
