The 2 little computers symbol which indicates whether the PC is on line have disappeared from the system tray of a friend’s PC. As a result she finds it difficult to know whether her dial-up connection is active or not, and it is also not easy to disconnect it. Anyone know how to get it back?

I tried a right click on the system tray and then looking in Properties, but it's not there.

It's a standard Window XP PC, about 2 years old

If it is a microsoft broadband adapter then put msbntray.exe into your startup folder.

Get her to check this out ....

Control Panel > Network Connections > right click Dialup connection (her ISP) > Properties and ensure that 'Show icon in Notification Area when connected' is checked.
