Application Error?

Hello,

I've been trying to debug this application error I keep receiving in Windows XP. This error pops up under my "Device Manager" only when I try to update my Hauppauge TV tuner drivers. And It also shows up when I try to do a "Windows Update ".

This is the error in the application log for when I do a Windows Update:

Faulting application mmc.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module setupapi.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0004644e.

This is the error I receive when I try to update my Hauppauge drivers:

Faulting application HcwDriverInstall.exe, version 1.5.23221.0, faulting module setupapi.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0004644e.

Can somebody help me figure out what's causing this error? This error is very annoying and driving me nuts!!

If you need any more information like dump files or anything just ask I'll give any information that will help solve this issue.

Do a search for setupapi.dll

Rename to setupapi.old for any found other than in:

\Windows\System32
\i386
\Windows\dllcache
\Windows\$NTxxxxxxxxx$\ folder types
