Desktop and Animated GIF's

Is there a way to get GIF's of this type to work on the desktop or is XP Pro just that way? I run a little program called Wallpaper Spinner (works great) and the few animated GIF's I have don't "animate" (No, there are NOT ****).

1. Open the Display Properties control panel
2. On the Web tab, make sure the View my Active Desktop as a web page check box is selected.

Enable Active Desktop by checking "My Current Home Page" or click New to add another page. The HTML page can be local on your system and can include animated GIFs, Flash animation, and any other element that can be included on a web page.

Well, that did not work...only allowed1 picture. I really don't want to have to create a web page with over 2000 pics (I have it set to change the desktop every min...)

 

With a web page you can have more than one picture.

But I have a clearer sense of what you are asking. There are utilities that provide easier use of animated GIFs through the Active Desktop feature of XP. I have never used on so I cannot recommend one to you. An example: http://www.ccyjchk.com/catalog/wallpaper_changer_pro.php

I would beware of what you find at the site Bill presented.

SiteAdvisor gives it a red rating based on its linking to other sites which distribute applications which may contain some 'extras'.

Altho, it does not rate any of the actual Downloads as bad, it's always nice to see that when linking to other sites what could be ahead. This is especially true with freeware applications. So many come bundled with junk it's become one of the more riskier things to do these days.

This is not to throw water on Bills suggestion in trying to provide you an option to get accomplished what you're trying to do, just an FYI\heads up sort of thing.

I take that into consideration on ANY freeware/shareware. I use Pest Patrol Corp Ed., Panda AV and TuneUp 2006 to avoid problems...

So far, none has managed to get into my system...but thanks for the warning tho...

Well, tried the wallpaper only version and no luck... will try the other version now...

 

The wallpaper version does not support animated Gifs.
