On startup, I get APOINT.EXE failed to load DLL (ApMain).

I click ok and everything works fine, but it's there every time I startup.

Does anyone know what this is? And how I can get rid of it permanently?

    Laptop?
    ALPs pointer device?

The entries that likely exist at Startup:
APntEx.exe - Touchpad driver (from Alps)
APoint.exe - And another touchpad driver (from Alps)

Can you download a new driver set and install for the ALPS touchpad?

Bill, yes, it is a laptop --- and she (it isn't me, actually; it's my daughter) doesn't use the Touchpad, anyway. Can't she just delete whatever is causing this nuisance and forget about it?

    Lets disable and not delete.

    Download AutoRuns by Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/Autoruns.mspx

Unpack the program to its own New folder.
    Run the autorun.exe application.

Find the entry for APoint.exe (capitalization will vary), made by ALPS.
Uncheck the box for the entry.

    Save your work.
    Reboot and test.
