    Hey all,

I am currently running the anti-virus scanner from ca. Is that any good? On my XP install, I have Zone Alarm 6.5 and Kaspersky 6. Does anyone know if either is compatible with Vista, or should I stick with the Vista Firewall and the anti-virus scanner from ca?

    Thanks a bunch. :)

I've used Etrust for years and am completely satisfied with it. Easy on the system and it does what it's supposed to do.

As for the firewalls, I'm not sure what's all compatible with Vista. I've just been using the one that's supplied with Vista. Seems to do just fine.

Yea, I heard that the Windows Vista firewall is better by leaps and bounds than the one that comes with XP. Can anyone confirm this?

Really? You don't say. :D Unfortunately, it is not compatible with Vista. I like the vastly improved Vista Firewall and ca for anti-virus. Industrial-strength, baby. ;)

I am running Vista RTM Gold now and it is breathtaking. Goodbye, XP. This is now my main OS. :)

Not more stable (yet?), but much much faster and of course brand new. The 3-D graphics (including Windows Aero glass) are nothing short of stunning. And on a more superficial level, it just looks a whole lot prettier. lol...

Btw, anyone wanna join the CrunchDude circle of love? heheh :D

You do not want to know.
It involves vegetable oil, live rodents and a Bit Torrent LAN party.

Come on, what's with the flack about bit torrent? It's a great way to test software (compatibility/usefulness, etc.) before you buy. Kind of like a trial for software where there is no trial available.

And the CrunchDude circle of love is something completely different. :D :D :D

Bit Torrent is very unpopular on this site as it can be a haven for piracy for those who don't use it to just test software before they buy them. Out of respect for the owner of this site, I won't get into it further.

It has to do with the cellular provider Cingular Wireless and myself, The CrunchDude. I started it on another forum, along with a cool guy from Connecticut, who is the Senior Member, and who I cross-check with when someone requests the distinct privilege and honor of membership. He is also full of love. We run the show. He and I are currently contemplating launching an exploratory committee to ascertain our prospects of becoming President and Vice President of the United States in 2008 or 2012. We are uncertain as of yet, as there might be new Treo and LG 4G cellular devices being released in '08, which would take precendence over the Presidency. Hey, that rhymes, but anyway, I urge you to read on...

A very select few people are members who are eligible for any kind of benefit you could think of. Bonus rollover minutes (limitless), recurring Bonus Minutes features codes, ETF waivers, contract deletions, bill credits for overage, retention plans, FAN discounts, amongst a few more. And best of all, I do everything for everyone who is a member for free. I am the spreader of the love. Love is good. Crunch is good. Cingular is good. And at times, we share our respective girlfriends. It's love all around. ;)

    Love,

    CrunchDude

I have run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor on my XP PC and it was very useful. It seems that a couple of programs are not friendly with vista such as Norton and Nero. IMO I think mircshoft should provide the antivirus and firewall on vista and not need third party suftware. :)

Microsoft IS providing A firewall, which is supposedly much improved over the one that came with XP SP2. You will see all software developers (including Norton and Nero) with a Vista-compatible versions come 1/31/07, which is the date that Vista is released to the public. Someone suggested I try NOD32 for an anti-virus solution and I like it. It is already Vista-ready, so check it out. ;)
