Is there a freeware conversion from avi to wmv?

I took a video with my digital camera in avi format. I tried to post it on YouTube, but it was too long. But I notice that other videos are longer (in time) than the one I took, and I read somewhere that wmv was a more compressed format than avi. So I wanted to convert my avi file to wmv. Is there a freeware program that can do that? Or should I try to compress my avi file? Am I even heading the right direction? I haven't tried to use YouTube or take videos before.

thanks Tony for your reply. Acutally, I found the answer to my own question. Windows Movie Maker, which comes with XP, does the job just fine. I didn't know Microsoft supplied that program but all I had to do was load my avi file, move it to the storyboard, and save it. The resulting wmv file was 20% the size of the original avi file.

Does Windows Movie Maker do it? SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder and Renderer), a freeware, might do it. WMV is a bit experimental for it.
