    Hi Ramona

It has really messed up this time.....
I have been having problems with Netscape 7.2 and today decided to download Firefox 2.0 and Thunderbird.

I'm running Windows 98SE with 320Ram 400 Mhz so it should run alright.

I downloaded the .exe to Download file and then went to control panel to remove Netscape 7.2 On highlighting it, it immediately started the uninstall and then stopped stating that the Netscape uninstall log file was missing.

I checked in find file and could find nothing so decided (foolishly?) that if I reinstalled it, that it might reinstall the missing file.
That didn't work...it still gave me the same message, BUT this time a little window came up asking if I wanted to delete all of Netscape and it's components. I hit yes, the computer locked up and I had to manually shut it down.

On restart the scandisk said to run a scan of windows as it had found a very long file name. I haven't run this yet as I'm not sure what it would show and further what I would do with it when it does present it to me.

Then when the desktop loaded, Netscape Icon was missing!

I'm at a loss how to get Netscape 7.2 out now.

I haven't done anything with Firefox or Thunderbird, but it is on the computer in Download folder.

I DO have my profiles in a backup folder on C:\ so wonder if it the answer is to delete all netscape related files other than the mozilla\profile and backup Mozilla\profile.

    Help please.

    Thanks in advance
    Gloria

    Netscape 7.2

Since Netscape has "diappeared" from the desktop, my postings are via Internet Explorer.

I just tried to open the mail here and received the following message (Netscape is my default browser and mail)
    Error Starting Progam
The c:\programfile\netscape\netscape\netscape.exe file appears to be corrupt. Reinstall the file and try again.
I hit the OK button and the following appeared
Access to specified device, path to file is denied.

    ARRRGH!!!

    Gloria,

Back from the Thanksgiving Holiday, and hope yours was great!

You're definitely on the right track, and I would try again reinstalling Netscape
on top of the existing install. This is the usual fix for the problem you are experiencing.

If this doesn't work, then use a Registry Cleaner and delete everything "Netscape ". Then delete these folders:

    C:\Program Files\Netscape

If you have no other Netscape, Mozilla, or SeaMonkey browser, installed, then delete this folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org

If you do have other gecko browsers installed, then delete this folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.7.2_2004080415
