    Hello All,

    I've 4 wired PC's (2-Win XP Pro SP2)(2-Win XP Home SP2) at home.
Also at times 2-3 wireless. (WinXP Pro SP2).
And my setup is cable to a Belkin wireless router then to a 8 port D-link Gigabit switch.
All wired go through the switch.
My problem is, I've a Epson R200 network shared printer on one of the two Pro systems (Mine). The two home and wireless systems can all print to my printer.
The other Pro system can't, it's not even seeing my PC or the printer.
In fact it doesn't see any of the others.
    It does have Internet access.

In Network places I can see but not access the system with the problem.
On the system with the problem, I do not see anything. And the error I get is,
Any ideas? I'm at a loss!

Thanks for any and all help

I had and cured that Printer sharing problem years ago by getting an HP5850 that plugs directtly into the Router.

That makes it a a Stand-a-lone to each machine. With no one machine depending on the other.

    PS.
We are leaving right now for a 350 mile trip so I may not get back here for a day ir two. But thouhgt I would just jump in with a wild idea before we left.

Seems like a firewall issue to me. The NetBIOS ports (139,445) are being blocked on your WinxP PC. So while it can access the internet, it cannot access the LAN. Check & configure the firewall.

    BillyBob,
It's kind of funny you said,
I might end up doing just that thing. But I still need see this through!

    rsinfo,
Tried that with both firewall on and off. Didn't work either way.

    Bill Castner,
Netbios settings are good and the restrictanonymous key was already set to 0

This problem is driving me nuts :)

    Thanks for all the input
    Rod

How is the IP assigned to this computer? Is it static or dynamic? Can you ping other computers from this computer & vice versa ?

    IP's are static on all
On my PC I can ping one of of the girls PC's (the other must be off)
On the problem PC I can also ping the same PC (One of the Girls)
But it doesn't see it in Network Places! (Or anything)
On mine I can see all 4 PC's in Network Places
Don't know why I didn't get a ping back from the other Girls!

. On the problem PC check the status of the 'Simple File Sharing' setting; you likely in this mixed OS setting want this off on both PCs.

    . On the problem PC:

Start, Run, net use Guest /Active:yes

    . On the problem PC:

    Net start cmd

net view && What error message is given - error text and error #
net view \\one of the working PCs && what error is given.

If you cannot ping every PC Name in your Workgroup, you either have a hardware issue (bad NIC, bad port on router), cabling issue, or a firewall issue. (Assuming the machines are on).

Have you checked that every computer name is unique on the Workgroup, that a computer name is different from any username.

Bill, I do thank you for all your help.
    But I've gone another route.
I've gone and pulled the hard drive out and added it to a PC that I was putting together for my wife. (The problem PC was hers)
As soon as I'm done transferring over everything she needs. We should be done. I still haven't hooked it up to the network yet. So that still could be a issue, but I don't think it will be.

As for the whole Printer sharing thing, I think I'm going to go out and get a network-able printer.

I'll post back with how everything turns out.

    Thanks again
    Rod

And the update is everything is running and connected, printers and all! :)
