constant Bleep

    I get this constant bleep in Windows xp, it sounds like the information bar is poping up in internet explorer, but i dont it open. It bleeps every 15 seconds or so, and it gets really annoying. any help?

    No real idea what that could be, but if you turn off Sounds in Control Panel does it cease? If so scroll down the list and see what was set to produce a sound and see if the culprit surfaces.

    no i can turn sounds off and it doesnt do anything, but i did find this, i fixed it with google toolbar, alls i did is disable sounds in the toolbar, and it worked. If a person looks in task manager google runs in the background, so once i got rid of that, it was great.

    I answered this one last week on another site, so my memory is fresh about the issue.

    You might be surprised at the source for the beeps: Indexing of PDF files by Google Desktop Search. To be fair to Google, it uses an Adobe redistributable to perform the open and search on .PDF files:

    Check that this is not a sign that the processor or hard drive is overheating.
