AR RAM Disk stopped PDF Print E-mail
    Written by Administrator

We are sorry to inform you that we have stopped the development and the support for our well established virtual disk product "AR RAM Disk ".
    Image AR RAM Disk stopped

In the last three years AR Soft has developed a very small tool: the AR RAM Disk. This tool added a virtual disk to your Windows&tm; system, which could be used to store temporary files to get faster access to them. The world of Windows&tm; changed in the last years. Microsoft has released Windows XP&tm; and this was the end of a journey. The old-DOS based operating systems (like Windows 95, 98 and ME) have been merged with the Windows NT based operating system (like Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000). The change in the operating system world leeds to a higher acceptance of our RAM Disk (RAM Disk could only run on Windows NT based system).

Today, we have stopped the development because of many different difficulties. The AR RAM Disk product has had its limitations, but these limitation were mainly caused by the operating system. The were only few features, which could have been added to the RAM Disk in the future. The RAM Disk was a small tool, which had all necessary features.

In the last time our support team has got many mails per day, but most of theses mails were spam. After sorting out the spam there were some questions or requests from customers. But answering the same question every day was very boring and annoying. This was another reason why we stopped the AR RAM Disk. We have stopped the support for the RAM Disk.

Because of the above mentioned reasons, we decide to stop the development and the support for the AR RAM Disk.

We thank all our users within the last three years for the feedback for the RAM Disk. Do not hesitate to contact us in the future.

thank you. is microsoft not provide over 32MB ramdrive.sys files?

Only (AR Soft RAM Disk 1.20 ), no any board?

becuase I think if somepeople have 4G RAM, use 2G to doing TEMP file, will faster? (3dsmax,autocad,photoshop,capture video and editing...)

...and next version winodws (Windows Vista ) this RAMDRIVE function is disable? or only 32MB max ?

If your total RAM is 512mb, the last thing in the world you want to do is dedicate 256mb for a RAM disk.

If you want a fast machine, the RAM disk is going to hurt you rather than help you.

Yea, I'd agree. I don't see any real use this day & age for a RAM drive. "Back in the day" with extremely slow (compared to today's) Hard Disks a RAM drive could make sense, not now IMHO.

    visee ...

If you want to use a RAM disk, first increase your system RAM.

Farstone has several software products which include RAM disk capability, ranging in price from US $30 to US $80.

thank you, my office computer is use P4 3G Mhz, 4GB ram, 80GB ATA133 @7200rpm HDD and 64RAM display card.
system : windows xp pro sp2.

but I feel slowly, when I doing 3Dsmax and Video Capture Editing, sometime slowly...

I feel display card or read TMP files?

Now I try if can use ramdrive will faster, because RAM is very quickly...
if can avaible 1G ram to ramdrive will best!? but Microsoft only RAMDRIVE.SYS 32MB, is too small...

for HOME: I will download around 200MB file always (all is my job video files),
so I think RAMDRIVE is very best idea!

    Did you ever run Defrag?

Open Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance and under Tasks, click Rearrange items on your hard disk to make your computer run faster.
