update.ver is not correct,help!

I have a problem using the windows update...
It downloads the updates alright, but then it fails to run them.

Additionally there is the log of the update failure in the windows folder (e.g. KB925486.log):

In general this issue is resolved by running this Hotfix first: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909596/

However, from your logs I note:

Are you using some sort of file cleaner utility? There is no reason for these files to be missing.

If not, this usually indicates malware has corrupted your system, and this needs to be dealt with first.

I have not used any cleaner utility and my OS was installed 3 days ago.

I buy my machine from Dell,and I use the CD from Dell.

 

Contact Dell support.

There was an issue where the resoration CD included mixed files, including Korean images of critical XP files.

They will know what you are talking about. They will send you a new CD. Do a restore from the new CD.
