Does someone here know the difference between a B, G, N wireless router? Netgear is the brand but I doubt that means anything. Thanks.

    B, G and N refer to the different wireless standards: 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n

802.11b was the first affordable widely used wireless standard. This still acts as a base line, and can be a fall back - that is routers have it to be as widely compatible as possible. Maximum speeds it 11Mb/s with a following wind.

802.11g is the current standard. Better range and speed than 802.11b (a little over 50Mb/s).

802.11n is the latest standard. 100Mb/s plus. Uses multiple connections to get the speed. The standard hasn't been ratified yet (or possibly only very recently) so there can be compatibility issues between kit from different manufactures.

So currently 802.11g is the safe bet, 802.11n is best performance, 802.11b is there for backward compatibility.
