On computer A, I have no problem selecting text using the mouse connected to computer A and using OE6 IE6winXPSP2 on drive C or using a second exact LogitechMX500mouse from computer B.

On computer B, I have no problem selecting text with the LogitechMX500mouse connected to computer B when using OE6win98 on drive C.

On computer B. I installed winXP on drive D and reinstalled the LogitechMX500mouse drivers for winXP. Now I have win98 and winXP on the same computer.

I have a problem with this configuration.
On OE, I cannot select the text. That is, "left click drag" over the text in the message. Keybd shiftarrow works. In the text of received messages, I cannot get the cursor to appear in the text to even try to select it.

First, empty your Temporary Internet Files cache. You can do this within IE by using Tools, Internet Options, General tab, and clear the files under the History section.

First, be sure to install Java Virtual Machine from the Sun site.

    http://www.java.com/getjava/

Then follow the steps discussed in these two articles:

Internet Explorer "About" box is completely blank -- Unable to type in text boxes in websites
    http://www.winxptutor.com/ieabout.htm

Since you are running IE6 you could try a DLL reregistration:

Bill, Thanks for the suggestions. I followed your directions, except for WinXPtutor, which I didn't think descrbed my problem.
    I still have the problem.

While the first link does not describe your issue, the remedy suggested is apt.

    If not:
    • Logon as Administrator
    • Create a new user with Control Panel, User Accounts
    • Logon as the new user. Logoff.
    • Logon as Administrator.
    • Follow the instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811151
    • Logoff, and logon as the new user you created earlier.
    • Does this resolve the issue? Please advise the Forum, as if this does not resolve the issue the error is a corrupt user identity in OE, and can be fixed.
