Hey there, I'm in the process of upgrading my old box to an Intel Core 2 Due E6400 chip..

My question is i've only got the install cd's for XP Pro dated 2001.
Will the OS install and run okay to the point where I'll be able to connect to the net and update?

Or am i long overdue a trip to the shops..
    thanks..

I'm not sure, but I'd Slipstream SP2 to it anyway. No store trip needed :D

The most important benefit from slipstreaming SP2 into a RTM CD (apart from having only ... ... 72 updates to install afterwards) is that XP RTM can not handle hard disk sizes over 137 GB. From SP1, Windows XP includes 48-bit LBA support for ATAPI disk drives. With this support, you can use hard disks that are larger than the 137 GB limit.
