How long since you replaced the batteries?

Every so often I get stuck with a problem like you are describing. With me it is always batteries with low power.

Have you checked them before looking for a more complicated cause?

i use rechargable batteries which i find work fine for me as when the power is low... i get a message reporting that the power is low... this can happen when the batteries are fairly full.

its got me stump`d.... everything i have read up on so far relating to the sympton has loads of solutions to try ... but it means buying loads of different softwear to use ... which can be expensive :(

    Several points .....

Have you tried a PS/s (corded) mouse and does that work OK?

Are you using a CRT monitor rather than a flat panel. If so be aware of the interference that can arise from the monitor. Ensure that the receiver is positioned as far away as possible from the monitor and that the mouse mat is also as far away as is reasonably possible.

Do Ctrl + Alt + Del.
Hold down the Ctrl key and press Tab to change tabs.
Is anything listed as "Not Responding ", or the CPU usage at 100%?
Under Processes, press the Tab key and then you can scroll down using the arrow button.

At least to save "crashing out ", in Task Manager, hold down the Alt key and press the U key, go to Turn Off and Enter.

:) Thanks you guys for the sudgestions.
Im using a 19" tft monitor and the cordless was my preferencs.
Corded works fine aswell.... just fed up with cleaning it all the time.

    Anyway.... here`s a update.
At 1am i encountered a loud noise comming from my tower "like a fan going faulty ".
I switched it off and at 10am when i tried it again... the loud noise was back within seconds of booting up.
After opening it up and confirming it wasnt the fan on the cpu, i listened and found the noise coming from the psu (power supply).
I went out and bought a new one of a larger size as that one was only 300w and i bought a 400w.... installed it and have left the pc on idle for about 4hours untill now.... and no sign of freezing up.... fingers crossed the fault is fixed

Apologies, but if the mouse does not work, you should be able to navigate via the keyboard.
