    Hi,
I have a Dimension 4700 with Win XP and I want to check the RAM memory to see if it is working OK. So I downloaded Memtest86, and also the Windows Memory test. I downloaded the ISO CD files for each, and then burned each onto a seperate CD. (The file I got has a little CD looking icon.)
I tried to get these to boot up by restarting the computer, and then hitting F12 when the Dell logo comes on. I then choose the Onboard CD-ROM option. But, I cannot get the program to boot, and I get a message saying " selected boot drive not available ".
Can you give me some help as to how to proceed? I do not have
a floppy drive to try. Also, do you have any opinions on what memory
    test program is best?
    Thanks!

How did you burn it? If you just copied the ISO file to the disk it won't work. You need to select "burn image file" (or something similar) in your burning program. Then point it to the ISO file. What program are you using to burn it?

Try DocMemory - Memtest86 seems to be out of favour at the moment - and Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool.

    Memory Test CD

    Zander,
I burned a copy using the regular Win XP utility.
I will look to see if there is an option to burn an image.
    Thanks,

    Trouble Booting Memory Test: Success!!!

    Guys,

After playing around with an old version of Nero and about 10
burned CR-Rs later I went to the above link suggested by Zander.
( How can I write ISO files...) and downloaded the Alex Feinman
    XP utility.
I was able to burn an image pretty easily, and now have a CD
ready to go. You have to wonder why Microsoft would not include
this as a standard utility. Many thanks for the suggestions! Special
    regards and appreciation to Zander.

PS: I also learned that if you want to use Nero you
must convert the original ISO into a Nero type file first.
Then you are supposed to do a burn ( didnt work for me ).

May have been true in older versions of Nero, but not in more recent ones, especially 7 - Recorder > Burn Image and away it goes :)

Glad to hear you got it to work for you and thanks for letting us know.
I've wondered about that myself. Only thing I can think of is, perhaps to much functionality in the programs MS supplies with the OS leads to the lawyers getting in their hair.
