I just downloaded AdAware and after it ran its scan I found DOUBLECLICK on there. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! Before I did the full restore on my computer, I remember having a list of sites in my IE RESTRICTED ZONE in Security. I didn't think to write that list down BEFORE I restored the computer. Needless to say, I can't remember how to input restricted sites, or what the list was. I do know that doubleclick was one of them. When typing in the address it wants, do I type it *.*doubleclick.net or *.doubleclick.net? I can't remember if it's one or two *s. I also know that I need to type in .net AND .com. Can someone give me some other ones that should be in there? Thanks!

    (grumble...grumble...darn spyware!)

    :)

I use Ad-aware Plus 5.83 and it comes with Ad-watch 2.51 and it runs in the system tray blocks all those "doublclicks ".

I believe what your looking for is *@doubleclick.txt. The * is usually the username.

Thanks, dobhar! I think that is what I was looking for. I thought it was a -dot- after the *. It's really the @ sign. Thanks! I still need a list of other spies, though. I don't have the Plus version. I may look into that later. I have read about it, but I think I'll do ok by listing offenders in the Security Zones.

    Thanks again for the tip.

    :)

    Hi Panda,
I see you are asking about how to add a list of sites, including Doubleclick, to IE's security settings RESTRICTED SITES. (dobhar's description was for the cookie text file itself). This is from a google search:

    From http://content.techweb.com/winmag/fixes/ie/blocker.htm
    From http://kimihia.org.nz/articles/cookies/stopping
You can find more lists of sites to block by doing a google search on:
    IE "Restricted Sites" list doubleclick

    THANK YOU!

Thank you very much, ALICE! That list is exactly what I was looking for! I remember quite a few of them from your list. But, geeeeeesh, you sure gave me a lot of work to do! LOL. I never had that many before, but then again, I know I missed a lot. I'll be inputting as soon as I get done here. Also, thanks for the link. I have it bookmarked for future reading and I will copy those add-ons in my puter book so I'll have that paper trail that I always keep handy.

    Brett

Thanks for the link! Worth checking out.

Thanks again, everyone for all your input. Much appreciated.

    :)

    Hi Panda,

You're welcome. So then you will be busy adding restricted sites.

I just noticed, on the above list it has *.hitbot.com - that may or may not be a typo but it reminded me that WelshJim has a thread either here or on the LurkHere forums that mentions hitbox.com cookies and Ad-aware.
