Tonight I went to Windows Update and downloaded an update for my mouse. Now my left side button won't work right. I have it set for double click and it keeps wanting to do a jump forward. I've ticked the box, applied, went back in, ticked it again, applied again and it still won't work. I then did a scan and defrag (way over due!) then reboot thinking I needed to straighten some stuff up. Still no go. Could it be a coincident that the button just finally gave out? Have had the mouse for 6 years now. Any ideas?

You would think that driver updates through MS would be bombproof, but experience suggests otherwise.

I suggest you either roll back the driver to the previous version or uninstall the mouse and re-install the software that worked.

Would be some coincidence if the button failed at the same time as you updated the software :)

Thanks for the tips, Pete! I uninstalled....reinstalled. Did the trick. Unreal how sometimes the updates just UP and mess things UP more.

    :)
