I downloaded Flash Player, doubleclicked, selected the plugin directory for Seamonkey, it appeared to install but it does not appear in the plugin directory. I did the same with Shockwave and it installed in the plugin directory. What exactly is the name of the Flash Player program? I would like to search my computer to find out where it went.

I wanted to edit my previous comments but the edit button does not seem to work. Is it not working.
My edit was the question why FlashPlayer did not install?

So, you don't have a npswf32.dll file in your plugins folder? It should be described as Shockwave Flash. I copy the file from another program like Mozilla, Netscape, or Firefox, and paste it into the folder of interest.
In my case, I did not have to do that, as the file was placed in the Seamonkey program, when I updated Flash.

I have Shockwave flash like you do in the plugin folder but I do not have a file for Flash Player which is different from Shockwave flash. It appeared that I installed Flash player but I can not figure out where it resides. During the install I was requested to point it to the plugin folder which I did, but after the install there is nothing there to prove it. Puzzled!

    Hi Bob,

I think you need the "ShockwavePlugin.class" file. It's the only one in my plugins folder that seems remotely related to Flash, which works on my system. If you can't copy it from another FF/Mozilla/SeaMonkey installation, I'll email it to you. Let me know.

Thanks Jim. I went to the Adobe download site and checked from some sites they cite(sorry about the pun), and both my Shockwave and Flash Player seem to be working. I see Shockwave in the plugin folder of SeaMonkey but do not know where Flash Player ended up even though it asked for the plugin folder when I downloaded it.

Realizing that Windows 98SE and XP seem to react differently with Gecko browsers, for the sake of experiment I deleted the below plugins in SeaMonkey:

I removed the Adobe Macromedia Shockwave Flash Player plugins
    GetFlash.exe - 9,0,16,0
    NPSWF32.dll - 9,0,16,0

I also removed the Adobe Macromedia Player plugins
    NP32DSW.DLL - 10.1.4r20
    ShockwavePlugin.class

I then downloaded both Players from the Adobe site, and reinstalled. The results were interesting:

    • I was not prompted for a path to the installation
    • The plugins weren't installed to the SeaMonkey plugins folder
    • The Flash Player plugins were installed to all Gecko browser, except SeaMonkey

I copied the four plugins, two for Shockwave Player and two for the Shockwave Flash Player from the Mozilla plugins folder to SeaMonkey's plugins folder, and all was well on the test site.

Things that make you go hmm.

Very interesting! I had copied the version 8 .dll, and later upgraded to v.9. Seamonkey shows v.9.
