    My apologies.
I still would have chosen option #1.

i again. i'm the guy that asked for help to install win xp without cd drive or floppy.
you gave me the right instructions to copy boot file to the hard drive and the i386 folder.
i made the whole process correctly. in some part, it was asked if i woull like to convert system files, from fat32 to ntfs and i accepted. after the conversion, windows xp installation guide iniciated normally. right after, it appeard me a message saying that a fatal error ocurred (win32lasterror is 14001), and i only have the option to close the window, and the computer restarts immediatly.
    can you help me please?

Please give the exact error message, the exact error number, and exactly when the error occurs.

after the computer initiates, is shown a menu with 2 operative systems: win xp pro and old system c:. I choose win xp pro and after is shown the win xp installation screen (the one that as all the installation steps in left od the screen whith the minutes countdown). before the install proceed, is given an error message saying something like: FATAL ERROR - It was found an error that stops configuration program from continue. It wasn't possible to install one of the components that win needs to proceed with the configuration. Untranslatable message, win32lasterror is 14001.
this message was in my language. i made a translation.
next, i have to click OK and the notebook restarts

Format the drive and start over.

And please, if you are going to do a FAT32 to NTFS conversion do it after the fact of the successful installation of XP.

You do not have a CD. Just install XP as you were given instructions earlier in this thread. Do not do anything other than install XP.

    FINALLY!!!!!!!!
    it went all ok!
win xp is installed. although, i have 3 more simple questions to make:

    1) when the notebook starts, is shown 2 options to select operative systems: win xp pro and "previous operative system c: ". hown can i remove this option?

    2) may i delete i386 folder that was used to install win?

    3) how can i convert fat32 to ntfs? is this advantegeous?

    Thank you very much!

    Q1: Edit unecessary startup items.
A1: Right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery -- Settings.

In the top box showing boot.ini options, use the little scroll button to select the default operating system. Click Okay.

Go back to that page and this time click the Edit button. Remove the entry that is not needed:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=10
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS= "Previous Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN

In this example, remove the bolded line. (Your text will be slightly different.)

    Q2: May I delete i386
A2: Since you do not have a CD drive, leave it.

    Q3: Convert to NTFS:
    A3: See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314097

i have 2 more questions. as i told you before, my floppy drive is broken. so the computer reports me 2 errors:

    1) when it starts there is a message saying: 02b0: "Diskette drive A error" and there's 2 options: F1-Boot, F10-computer setup. How do i make this message dispear?

2)when win initiates there's a message saying: userinit.exe error "The drive is not ready to be used. The door may be open.... "

This appear because the floppy doesn't have the little door. it's broken and the enter is open

thank you for your kindly answers!

For the first error, see what you can disable for the floppy in BIOS.

    For the second error:

    Start, Run, devmgmt.msc

Expand the entry for the floppy drive.
Disable, not uninstall, the device, by right clicking on the drive and choosing Disable.
