Windows hangs at gagp30kx.sys

Have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ on an Asus A8V-MX motherboard running under WinXP pro 32 bits. It worked fine for almost a year, but now it always hangs up during normal start. When i start it in safe mode it gets to gagp30kx.sys and restarts. What can be the problem? Is it a hardware or software failure? Until now I could not even start the computer from my original WinXP CD.

How to resolve such a problem? I’m thinking to by a new mother board, but will it help? I do not want to reinstall windows and loose all my programs. Has anybody experienced this and resolved the problem?

 

It likely has nothing to do with your AGP driver.

If you had System Restore enabled, do a registry repair:

It was a RAM memory error. When I changed the memory banks to other manufacturer, windows boot up normally
