I am hoping somebody can help me on this.

I've updated to IE 7. Now, I can not find the Temporary Internet Files. It's gone. Nothing is there. ???????????

When I search and find the Temporary Internet Files, nothing is listed in the Content.IE5 folder.

    Where are the files????

    The path is....

    C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

You will need to enable Show Hidden Files and Folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system files under Tools > Folder Options > View.

  3. to hide this advert.

Right click some blank real estate at the top of IE, and click Menu Bar to show this (if it is now hidden).

Then Tools, Internet Options, General tab, Browser History -- Settings

The path to your Temporary Internet Files is shown at mid-panel, and is as PeteC described above.

Click View Files to see the contents.

    THERE it is!

Thanks, Pete & Bill. I'd already done 1/2 your suggestions.... the 2nd half brought it back.

The 4 (or is it 5?) folders are still AWOL, though.

I only care because sometimes I check to see who's doing what to my computer when I'm online, and it's easier (or used to be!) to find something I want/need to keep but can't remember where it was in the first place.

The TIF has been completely redone to satisfy various design goals.

One consequence is that you should be wary of using TIF cleaner utilities that do not reflect the TIF changes of IE 7.

The typical result is to lose all cookies, even though this was not intended.

    deck--
Did you mean the Content.IE5 folder and its alphanumeric subfolders? I cannot see them in my TIF folder but by using a shortcut I can.
    %windir%\Explorer.exe /e, "C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5" (use all the quotes).
Click on the alphanumeric folders in the left (Explorer) panel and you will avoid a warning message.

It can be many folders. There is no fixed number under IE 7,

As in previous versions of Internet Explorer, the folder can be opened directly without trauma:

Start, Run, and type: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Will open the folder for you without worrying about error messages or anything else.

    This has always been true.

I should put that in more General form:

Start, Run, and type: %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

You can copy and paste the above string rather than type it. You could do it right now in fact.
