In theory, it has less bugs now then before:eek:

In all likelyhood, there won't be many changes to it for some time to come....

It's cute, it's pretty, it has tabbed browsing. Other then that, it'll take ya to the same palces you've been before.

If IE 6 does the job and you have concerns....don't do it...

Other langauge versions will be "rolled out" one after the other. As a swede, I am a bit "down the line ". My strategy is to wait for XP SP3 and hope that IE7 will be included. At that time (whenever it comes) I will do a clean installation of XP with SP3 slipstreamed.

(Today, for other reasons, I rolled back my system using Ghost to when the installation was fresh with SP2 slipstreamed. I did what I wanted and before Ghosting back (or is it forwards) to current, I checked at Windows Update and there was 64 updates since the release of SP2, not counting the ones that have been superseeded. SP3 is looong overdue.)

SP3 is scheduled for release in Q1 2007 AFAIK - after the release of Vista.

I'd wait until they patch the security flaw which turned up less than 20 hours after release before changing over.

Not really related to just IE7... it has been under investigation for a few months AFAIK, and affects from IE 5.5 and up.

    NEW IE7 problem

I just downloaded it and had to uninstall it and go back to IE6. I couldn't see or find my e-mails in IE7! I looked carefully and checked all the available buttons but could not find any way to see the mail icon!

Right click on a blank area of the Command Bar - thats the bar with the page title in and the Home, etc button > Customise Command Bar > Add or Remove Commands and Add the Read Mail icon as you would in IE 6.

You should upgrade to the final version now for its enhanced Security. Its additional features are worth the while as well.

as posted below i just received a notice that sp3 is pushed back to late 08. pretty typical for m.s. heck by that time i'll build myself a new machine most likely with vista most likely all the computer makers will be only offering vista on their new machines.

Ie 7 Not Ready For Prime Time

I went through 4 different techie's and all 4 told me something different to do to get my e-mail but none worked. Finally, a supervisor called and told me it was a problem i just discovered for them that IE 7 did not import Outlook Express with it for the e-mail so NOT to download and install it yet till they get that fixed. So, stay away from it for now!

Well, don't believe all techies :D

I do not normally have that button 'Read Mail' available as I run OE all the time, check every 10 minutes on auto - so I had not evaluated the solution I posted.

I now have and it works a treat, fires up OE in the usual way if it is not running and switches to it if it is.

So I think you have a problem elsewhere.

    Just check one item .....

Tools > Internet Options > Programs - is Outlook Express set as the default email?

Do pass the contents of this post on to your techies/supervisor :)

    https problems

 I know this may seem redundant, but, it seems to me the last time I was on the bbs looking for information I saw a posting regarding the vulnerability of https site or sites when IE7 was used to open it allowing (in some manner) entry of code to download your personal secure data. Am I correct or did I just misunderstand the context. I have looked thru the postings and couldnt seem to find anything this time. Thanks guys & gals.
