    Hi jake,

Why don't you start a new thread in the Hardware section on the RAM with a link back to this thread. That way the hardware people will look at it.

Your last post sounds like you may have a problem with the MOBO itself - I'm not expert enough in matters Hardware to advise you any further.

    Regards - Charles

I am experience crashes when running big programs and I've had the "blue crash screen of Death" a few times. I ran some RAM test and my results are here in this post:

Please don't start a new thread to reference a thread you have open. Thanks.

You got me going jake :)

I re opened the other thread - found this one, re closed your original Hardware thread, went to back to your XP thread and re linked that to this.

    Regards - Charles

    Hello Jake,
After the memory diagnostics identified DIMM 0, you removed that module yet the next test identified DIMM 0 again.

My first thoughts were that the slot Bank 0 has may have had grease from fingers or greasy dust pushed into the slot and is causing bad connections or that one or more of the modules is not compatible with the computer.

I now wonder if the machine is capable of running the RAM as dual-channel and the modules may not be matching. If the RAM slots are coloured differently you will need to look at the motherboard manual for how to configure the modules for dual channel and if it is indeed possible with the modules you have.

You can clean the slots and connectors of the modules with Contact Cleaner (make certain it has dried and dispersed before restarting).

Keep testing the modules in different slots to identify a bad or incompatible module (major RAM manufaturers have compatibility lists).

If your system runs RAM as dual-channel you will need to configure the modules as described in the manual.

    Matt
PS drivers were mentioned several times in the original thread. Look at updating or reinstalling the major drivers (motherboard/chipset and the graphics).

I put my system together almost 2 years ago and have had no problems with it until recenty, so I'm sure the compatability is not the issue. The slot bank0 is closest to all the the cards and fans on the MOBO and has some dust around it. I think I'll try Contact Cleaner on the slots then run some more tests.
Thanks for your help I'll get back to you on my results...

    -Jake
