I E 6 Screen Saver Settings

I am using IE6 with Windows XP Media Center Edition on a new HP Desktop. I am also using a Reminder Program-- X Reminder Pro--which I have used for some time with IE 6 and XP Home on my previous desktop. With my new computer, everytime a reminder pops up when the screensaver is on the reminder interrupts the screensaver and even though I have it on a 5 minute cycle-it never comes back on after this event. This did not happen with my previous computer-the pop up reminders did not interrupt the screensaver-and I have described the problem in detail to the program developer and they tell me it is not their software that is the problem and they referred me to HP or Microsoft. Forget HP - their techs are all in India and don't have a clue. Their standard response for everything is "wipe clean and reinstall everything ". I could not find a like problem anywhere. Any ideas would be appreciated. I've already thought about the "try a new reminder program" possibility but I like this one and I have $20 invested. Any ideas would be appreciated!!

 

Is this program running as a Service?
Is it set to interface with the user desktop and console session?

 

No, it is not a service. The program is a download from Dualitysoftware.com and it worked fine previously with my last computer that also used IE6 and Windows XP. I'm not sure I underestand the 2nd question but the program employs pop up reminders and also has a screen which can be recalled at any time to list all schedulred reminders -individual/one time as well as interval repeats. What I can't understand is that the pop-ups before never interfered with the screen saver but were on top of the IE screen when the screen saver was removed. Now the pop-ups are on top of IE when I come to the computer and the screen saver not only is interupted but does not come back on regardless of the time interval it is set at.

 

What hapens if you turn off the IE 7 pop-up blocker?

 

I am using IE 6.0.2900.2180 and the pop up blocker is turned off. However, I also have Norton Norton Internet Security but according to my subscription specs I do not have pop up blocking. I don't have a problem with pop ups but I travel to a very limited number of sites-mostly well known financial ones like Microsoft money central and Morningstar etc

What happens if you change screensavers? Say, from a 3-D screensaver to something less dramatic?

Do you happen to remember the screensaver you used previously that worked?

 

No problem, Bill I appreciate your time and help. I changed the screensavers from an elaborate shark affair and the same thing was happening with another elaborate aquarium program to a standard windows screensaver. The pop up reminder interrupted the screensaver BUT the screensaver came back on after the 5 minute interval which I have it set at. The shark screensaver is new but the aquarium screensaver did work fine with the old computer but is not functioning the same with this new one.
