    Hello,

I need to know if there is a way I can get back a deleted identity on my father's computer. His work e-mail was accidentally deleted and he lost all his messages addressed etc. Unfortunately he didn't back them up. I told him I would look around and try to help him.

Is there a way to do this. Please help me as I'm desperate:0 thanks

    Hi,

Was it just that the deleted items folder was emptied?

If the items were actually deleted (ie sent to the deleted items folder, which was then emptied), and you are using Outlook 2000 or later, you can select the deleted itms folder, then go to Tools > Recover Deleted Items and look through there for the items needed.

    Was the account removed?

If the account was removed, you just need to set it up again.

    Other than that:

What type of email address is it? An internet one (eg yahoo, hotmail), an exchange one or another type?
What client (eg Outlook 2003, Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird) does he use to connect?

    Hi,

He uses outlook express, his e-mail is usadatanet (dial up). He changed his e-mail address and created a new identity for it. He then erased/deleted the identity he was using(main identity) so anything stored in that iden. was gone. E-mails, addresses everything. It wasn't backed up anywhere. He used that address/identity for work in his home office. I really need to try to get this stuff back for him.

Thanks so much. I hope this can be fixed.

I'm guessing that your only hope would be to very nicely ask usadatanet if it is possible to retrieve the account then.

It's not really a Usa Datanet issue it's an outlook express issue. UD told us to call microsoft and they told me to call dell or pay 35$ to talk to someone more qualified.

Does anyone know if you delete the identity and all the e-mails are deleted that they are really gone or do they just go somewhere hidden on your hard drive somewhere. I'm not as concerned about the address book, but he had old e-mails that were very important.
    Thanks

    This looks promising:
    OutlookEX Recovery

Other possibles: Software Listing: Outlook Express Recovery

Question: Did you try System Restore?
Question: Is there no backup of the system at all?

See if the mail stores are still available:
    PC INSPECTOR™ File Recovery 4

    (File location: http://www.insideoutlookexpress.com/files/store.htm#storemain)

    If so, recover them.
Copy them to a brand new folder.
Recreate the original identity and original password.
Then import the emails from the saved, new folder.

I went into docs and settings...ended up in the identities folder, sent the folder to my docs and then imported it back into outlook exp. I was so glad to find that folder then to be able to import it was great!

    Thanks for the help again.
